Welcome to the world James Wright!

Wednesday, April 17, 2013 we welcomed our precious James Wright Warren to the world.  I can't believe it's only been a week.  I feel like he has been part of our family forever!  His arrival was not exactly how we had planned, but everything about this pregnancy has been different, so I don't know why we were surprised.  You think by your third, you have everything figured out.  Not this time.  To start with, how I felt.
  • I had horrible migraines for the first half of it. Never had that before.
  • I had these terrible varicose veins this time that made walking or being very active very difficult. Never had those before.
  •  I wore compression socks, that later turned into one sock (we deemed my "peg leg" because it looked like a prosthetic). Never wore those before.
  • Preggo with two busy, bossy girls at home.  Never done that before and it's not for the weary!
  • Carried totally different this time, really low...with a boy!  Never had one of those before!
  • had a couple of false alarms.  Even went up to the Dr.'s office thinking we were in labor.  Never done that before.
  • Got induced...Luckily, I had done that before.
The Monday before we were going to be induced, Caroline woke up with 104 temp.  Josh took her into the Dr. and they decided it was a virus.  This particular virus was really dangerous for me and the baby, so Caroline had to be quarantined to my parents house.  Once I got over the fact that this wasn't going to look like I had planned, we were ready to go.

Wednesday morning at 6:00 am we pulled up to Hillcrest ready to have a baby.  There is something so weird about having a planned induction.  Knowing it's time to go to the hospital without all the drama and hurried adrenalin is kind of weird, but it's also kind of awesome.  Especially if you are a planner like me ;)

We got all checked in and brought back to our room.  Pitocin started at 7:15 and we were on our way!

Contractions were coming really regularly and we were just waiting for Dr. Rister to come in and check me.  About 10 the anesthesiologist came by and gave me my epidural.  Right after that my water was broken and we started moving!

While we waited...

Lila got there and got her big sister present from us to play with in the waiting room.  Excited is an understatement.  She was all over the place!

The nurse even gave her a special bracelet and a Popsicle like Mommy.

All of our family from both sides got to be there.  How blessed is this little man before he even gets here!!!

Trying out the Dr.'s spinning chair.

Right after this picture, (around 12:15) my blood pressure kept dropping WAY too low because of my epidural.  I guess this happens sometimes?  Again, so weird since I hadn't had issues in the past?  They turned it way down to keep mine and the baby's heart rate okay.  I could feel everything, but contractions were manageable.  All of a sudden it went from really uncomfortable to full on WOW!  They came in to try and top me off to catch my epidural back up to where I was comfortable, but it was too late.  He was ready to go.  Dr. Rister came in to check me and said, "push".  My mom and sister were still in the room and none of the staff was ready, but James Wright decided it was time.

It is not the way I would recommend giving birth, but 10 minutes later, he was here!!!

All 9 lbs. 2 oz. 20.5 inches long!

I still don't know how we have been so blessed?!

Dr. Rister is the best!

Josh text a picture to the peeps in the waiting room.

Lila was very excited about being the first to come in and meet him.  So, she was ;)

She adores him and is already so protective of him.  Caroline is too.  Poor Caroline.  Sick as a dog at home with Mrs. Mary a sitter.  hate that she isn't in these pics :(

Lila coming out to tell the rest of the family to come meet her brother.

Grandparents first.

Three generations of Warren men.

Lila getting an up close look at his first diaper change!

Just a few of the questions she asked in that five minutes...
  • "Mom, why aren't you wearing any panties?"
  • "Is that bag beside your bed your tee tee?"
  • "What's that?"  (brother's anatomy)
  • "Where exactly did the Dr. get the baby out?"
Okay, wow!  She's only four right?!

Next, came the excited aunties!

The wonderful nurse Loraine.  Just loved her.

Moving to a room.  Got to go pretty quickly because my legs weren't numb.  Shesh.

After his first bath :)  We were shocked he had fuzzy blonde hair!  Both the girls had long black spiky hair.

After school got out, we got some more cousin visitors.

Sweet sisters brought him his first birthday cookie cake!

Some sweet visitors, Jen, Suzanne and Cari.

That same night is when the explosion happened in West.  The amount of people they brought into the hospital was crazy.  The press conferences they held were just down the hall from us.  It was so comforting to look at this few hours old little man and know that in all the sadness and loss this world brings,  the Lord has good things happening too.

The next morning just snuggling with my son!!!

Katy girl meeting James Wright.

Lila getting to hold him for the first time.

James Wright got his sisters bity baby twin boys to play with.  If you look closely, you can see just how thrilled Lila was to get a boy baby doll ;)

Once we explained that she needed a boy baby just like her brother was a boy, she decided it was okay,

I mean...

Lila was so proud, she got this lovie from the gift shop for her brother.

Thank goodness Justin and Roxann were there when we left, because Josh wasn't.  He had left to take care of Caroline.  Justin loaded up our car and we were out of there.

Mom and I welcoming him home alone isn't the way we thought we'd be doing it, but we were home all the same :)

So thankful for this precious boy!
