Parks and Recreation... Lila Style

This week Lila and I visited Poage Park for the first time since moving back to town. There is something so cool about taking her to the same park that I used to play at as a kid. She thought she was so big riding around in her umbrella stroller. So much easier to transport than the big Graco one.

First we tried out the strange froggy... riding... thing? She was really excited for me to let go and be a big girl, but that grew boring fast. On to the swings!!

OMGoodness did she love the swings! We are definitely needing one for our backyard.

And loved them...

and loved them!

As you can see, she was very happy with our morning. I think the best part for her was getting a drink of water. From a bottle, not from those nasty fountains! I love a public park, but come on:)

"On the road again"

A few weeks ago we drove up to Lubbock to go to the Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan show. It was so much fun!!! John Mellencamp was definitely the highlight of the night. Of course we don't have one picture of the concert, but I do have some precious ones of little Lila Lew. She had a blast visiting Nana, Granny, Grumps, Cha Cha, And the St.Clair family. (Too bad we don't have a close family:) She rode for the first time in her big girl car seat and loved every minute of it. Luckily Honey and GP were going to see Nana too, so the 5 hours were made easier by backseat entertainment.

Once we were at Nana's Lila got her first bath in the famous pink bath tub:)

Thanks Nana for all of our new toys!

4 generations of Anderson women.

Before we left for Cha Cha's, we had to get a ride on the black horse.

Aunt Roxann babysat for us so we could go enjoy the concert. She had lots of good help:)

We also helped her celebrate her birthday while we were there.

Lila absolutely loves the attention she gets from her sweet cousins.

Sweet girls!

Blaine was there too, just didn't catch him on camera playing with Lila. They sure have gotten big!

I think this picture says it all. We all had a blast! We will be back in LBK for the first Tech game!

MJ Warren

Lila has 2 teeth now! Both on the bottom. She looks so cute when she smiles (not that she ever had a problem with that:) However, her new favorite pose is tongue out like Michael Jordan. It must feel good on her teeth because she goes around all day playing just like this. (Sorry phone picture a little blurry). We had our family pictures taken yesterday and luckily the tongue took a break for a few normal smiles. Pictures coming soon. Happy Friday everyone!!!!

1st haircut!

This was almost a month ago now, but what can I say, I'm a little behind in my posts. Lila got her first official haircut! Her hair is the craziest thing. It started out BLACK and lots of it and now it's redish light brown and very thin? Who knows what she will end up with by the time she's grown? My mom, Honey was the stylist. She did a fabulous job. Lila was a little unsure to start with :)

Then she realized she could see her favorite person in the mirror ...her...and we were all smiles. She wasnt' the most cooperative client, so this became a family affair. My sisters and I held her still while Honey cut. At one point she turned the cold water on herself and we had to redress and try again.

Here is the finished style the next day. She loves helping me get ready. (by that I mean fussing until I give her a "non baby" toy to play with :) Don't worry the undies were clean! What a pretty girl!

Treck back to Houston

A few weekends ago I left Lila Lew (for the first time! thanks mom and dad) and went back down to Houston for my sweet friend Laurie's wedding. I was there for less than 24 hours, but managed to have a great time! It was so much fun to see all my old teacher friends for a night without baby! Laurie looked BEAUTIFUL and so, so happy.

She and Jason got married in the square of several cute houses turned shops. There was an air conditioned greenroom where they had the cake and dancing. Also, there were several different leveled areas with tables and places to visit.

I stayed with my friend Katie who just happened to live 2 blocks from the wedding. Thank you Katie :)

Here are some of my sweet friends from ROE. I miss them so much and am so grateful that I got to be friends with them all.

The next morning Katie and I went to meet Angela for brunch. She is preggo with twins! The 3 of us sat together for 3 years every day at recess and talked. They became some of my dear friends. I had a great time, but was very happy to get home to my girlie!

Ode to a sippy!

This post makes very clear how much my life has changed. *Warning* boring info ahead. I am so excited to have found the right kind of sippy cup. BFB (before baby) my shopping thrills came from 50% off sales at Anthropoligie, free gifts at Sephora and finding my size in a cute pair of shoes at Marshalls. While I still love a good deal, solving the sippy cup delima is what excites me these days:)

I have been trying to get Lila to start drinking water and juice for about a month now. I didn't want to just use her bottle b/c I didn't want her to always expect yummy juice in them and reject milk. I bought several different kinds of cups that were highly recomended and all this girl would do with them is chew. I couldn't get her to understand to suck? How do you explain that to a baby? I even bought the kind witht the soft spout and they leaked everywhere. I watch several other babies her age using sippy cups and wonder "How did you teach them that"? The mystery has been solved today. NUK the brand by Gerber has a learner cup. It has a soft top that doesn't leak! She is so proud of herself and I am so proud of the find:)

8 Months!

Lila is 8 months old!! This is the only shot I could get of her sitting still, not trying to eat the 8, or pull out her bow :) She is so busy these days. She is scooting around everywhere! We are amazed how quickly she is changing from a baby to a little girl. We won't go back to the doctor until next month for official stats, but she is big enough to be upgraded to a new car seat. I was so bummed to learn that they still have to ride backwards until the first birthday. We could really use a change in our car rides:) She does love getting to sit in the grocery cart like a big kid. So far only the one tooth. She LOVES reading books and playing peak-a-boo.

Lila Lew we are so proud of how smart and sweet you are. I can't wait to see what you learn to do this next month. You have blessed our lives more than you will ever know!
