Howdy Big Tex!

Well, I officially met Big Tex in the flesh, or the weird fiberglass stuff? I can't believe that I have lived in Waco for 18 of my 27 years and I had never made it to Dallas for the State Fair! We decided last minute on Friday night to head up there to join my sister Caryn and her family for some fried stuff and fun!

Lila loves being outside and watching people almost as much as I do. She was SO excited!

I thought she would love the carousel, so we paid our 16 tickets (what??) and found a great horse. This picture shows the beginning of a scared meltdown. Apparently the pretend horses weren't to her liking.

The sled was just perfect:)

Here is the Smith family looking at a baby giraffe. I couldn't believe the animals they had in the petting zoo! Everything from a zebra to an ostrich? Pretty cool.

Lila was scared of the longhorn (that's my girl) but loved all the goats.

By the time we went to the car shows, had our Texas Tornado fries and saw a dog show, she was out! Such a fun day. Can't wait to go back next year!

Otters and Raiders and Jedi...Oh my!

We had an awesome weekend with the fam last weekend. Cary was in town from Dallas, so Lila had so much fun playing with lots of cousins! Saturday morning we went to the zoo with Honey. I love the Waco zoo! It's not so big that you feel like you are walking at Dinsey World, but it has all the main animals that we wanted to see.

Lila was very impressed with the otters:)

The boys REALLY loved the snakes and reptiles! Even in their cages they still give me the heebee geebees!!!

My favorite, the giraffes.

After the zoo, it was home for the Tech/UT game!

We may be a bit obnoxious with our TTU gear?...but we don't care!

The game didn't turn out quite how we had hoped, but this girl didn't care:)

Then on Tuesday night we celebrated Ryan's 6th birthday! 6th!!! I can't believe he's that old. Isn't he still supposed to look like this?

His mommy threw him an amazing Star Wars birthday party. For more detailed pictures go to my sista Angie's blog. SO cute!

The Smith Padawans. (I learned that's what you call a Jedi in training)?

Lila with Honey and GP. She refused to smile all night:( I think playing with the crazy cousins had caught up with her.

Purdy sisters.

The sweetest sight on Earth! Josh holding that sweet ball of tutu:) Even if it won't smile.

I think this little boy had a GREAT time at his party!

Catlin's 1st Birthday!

Last week we went to Temple to visit our sweet friends Joe and Lisa. They were both in med school with Josh. It was their daughter Catlin's 1st birthday! It was so much fun to see her and Lila together. They look an awful lot alike. Same big blue eyes and round cheeks:)

They had a great time playing together. Catlin was very friendly sharing her toys. It was fun for us to see Lila playing with another little girl so close to her own age.

The birthday girl and Mommy.

Two very sweet daddies!

A rainy wedding weekend

Last weekend we went to the big D for a family wedding. Technically Denton, so I guess the little d? Don't be fooled by these angelic faces. The wedding did not go so smooth.

It started at our bedtime so, you can imagine how happy L was:) We waited in the lobby during the ceremony and were quickly joined by some talkative two year olds.

This is the beginning of the end.

Here we are in full on delirium. You can tell by Josh's face he was ready to get her out of there! Luckily the wedding wasn't about us and Brennen and Jessica are happily married anyway!

The next day we went to Rain Forest Cafe. All the kiddos were in awe of the talking animals. Lila couldn't believe the fish!

...or the elephant. We had a great time in a nice hotel with Josh's family. Thanks Grumps and Cha Cha!

Ahh....Fall

I know it's just barely fall, but I couldn't resist posting some pictures of my little pumpkin! She looks so cute in her pjs. Snug and fluffy:) Her dad thinks she is either trying to be the Fonz or working on a 'gig em' hand sign. I thinks she is just giving her approval of her new jammies.

She is getting more and more opinionated and by the looks of this picture, she didn't want any more sugar:) Happy Fall to everyone!

Tech trip # 1

This past weekend we went to Lubbock for the first of many Tech football games. Lila was really fired up about the game:)

Mommy was really excited for the chance to wear not one, but two of our Texas Tech outfits!

We spent Friday night in Crosbyton with Granny.

Then we spent Saturday night at Grumps and Cha Cha's in Shallowater. We had a great time and can't wait for another fun season of football. Get your guns up!

Who is that precious girl?...

Why it's Lila! We had our pictures taken a few weeks ago and I am loving them! Sorry that I have to show you a picture of a picture, but our scanner/printer is now Josh's scanner/printer at his office:) Jennifer Taylor took them in my parents front yard. She was great!

I know we look a little dorky in our matchy matchy, but we will have these forever and I didn't want to regret the outfits. (hello bandana Purdy family from the 80's:)

Sweet girl and a smitten mommy!

This is the face she makes all day:)

She looks so big to me in this pic.

Finally, the naked photos for senior pictures. Still got some good squish on those thighs:)

9 months old!

Well it's official. Lila has now been out in the world longer than she was inside my belly! Makes me a little sad, but we don't have time to be sad. She is keeping us on our toes at all times. The days of sitting still and playing with one toy are behind us. We are crawling everywhere! I can't leave the room to put a handful of laundry away (or something much more exciting ...ha) before she is gone to another room. She loves being able to get around on her own! She is pulling up on everything and I swear will be walking before to long! Yikes!

This morning we took our first day of Mother's Day Out pictures outside. Don't know why?, but in my family the first day of anything was marked by a picture on the front porch? I know it's not school yet, but Josh and I felt a little sad by how big she seemed.

Lila still thinks bath time is the greatest gift in the world! If you look closely you can see the two teeth on the bottom. One more is about to come through on the top. You would think that this would mean she was ready to start eating some solid food....

sadly, no. She won't eat anything that has bumps or lumps in it. She prefers her food ready to swallow.

We still only babble and say da da. The closest we get to momma is when we are ready to get out of the crib. She says mmmmm really loudly when she needs to be saved. We had to lower her mattress to the lowest setting because she stands up when she doesn't feel like sleeping:) Lately, that seems like most of the time. Like I said we are just to busy to stop. Too much out there to explore!

Lila Elizabeth, Daddy and I are so in love with you! You make us laugh constantly and remind us with your smiles and "words" how much God loves us. Only 3 months left until you are a year old!
