Hurricane Ike!

First and foremost we are so thankful that we and our house are safe. Just like the images all of you have seen on the news all weekend, so many people were not.
I guess it all starts last Wednesday night. Josh and I had gone to bed..or so I thought. He aparently stayed up all night worrying about the hurricane. At about 2:00 in the morning he tells me that we need to get up and go right then. Like so many other Houstonians I think he is over reacting and tell him I have to work and we'll figure it out later.
The next day work was crazy. All the classes were doubled up because half the staff had to leave and almost every parent came early to pick up their kids. At that point I realized maybe a 6 month pregnant lady should leave to be safe.
When I got home my very wise husband had taken every thing off the walls and documented it on camera. (It looked like the hurricane had already hit our house:) I had 5 minutes to pack and we were headed off to Waco. We took the backroads and got there in about 5 hours. (Not fun while pregnant)! We spent the night at my parents house and rested up for the days to come.
The next morning we checked Cooper into a kennel and hit the road to Lubbock. Another 6 hours later we got to Josh's parent's house. From their house we watched in suspence like everyone else wondering about our friends who stayed behind and what damage might be done. Thankfully we talked to everyone we knew there and they too were okay. Our sweet friends have gone by our house and from the outside it looks like the fence is the only thing messed up.
Now they say school is out for the week and there is no reason to come home. Trying to find the silver lining we went ahead and had a Great weekend! We saw all of our neices and nephews from both sides of our family and both grandmothers. We got to watch the Red Raiders beat SMU and hang out with our friends. I will post some photos whenever I get home to my computer.
For now we are back in Waco. Hopefully we can get home sometime this week. in the meantime, I am going to try to enjoy a few days off work:)
